It's the thought that counts, without a doubt, but the real art of gift shopping is to find a thoughtful, timely, appropriate and quality gift for a specific person.
A thoughtful gift is something that says to the receiver that they have been seen, heard and valued.
Find gifts that reflect the individual in some particular way: refer to something they told you, something they've done or are wanting to do, something that suggests a new way of looking at an issue that is current in their life.
And for goodness sake make sure it is also good to look at!
Take a look at my collections according to a few of life's big themes, and see how easy it is to put the thought back in to gift giving.
Pictured above are my home grown pansies, a thoughtful Japanese Kokeshi doll, and a lovely solid sterling silver and purple enamelled Pansy charm from the collection: pansies being the symbol of thoughtfulness itself.
